What is Bob?

I always loved stories, cartoons, satires, plays and film because of their ability to detach themselves from their human creators. Unless it is a very famous author of a book or director of a movie, we generally absorb their creations without preconception of their political, philosophic or social intentions. What we seek in the creation of the work are the things we can relate to, and how we can interpret that information to enrich our own lives. Finally, it is the truths imbedded into these written words, drawings, and images that we take with us and store away in our consciousness.

One day, we may find that some of the creators, who perhaps subtly introduced us to these truths, were politically, philosophically, and socially opposite of our ways of thinking. So what do we do when we find out that the bringer of this truth was inherently good or evil, depending on our feelings toward their race, faith, sex, nationality, or political indoctrination? Do we dismiss it? I say, certainly not.

Today we live with a certain McCarthyism that exists at every imaginable level. We deny certain truths because they don't seem to fit our liberalism or conservatism. We have become so compartmentalized that we only feel comfortable in our own camps. Everyone else is a damned liberal, or God forsaken conservative. And once you are labeled one or the other, you are stereotypically isolated. Doomed to a life with your own kind, you can now be judged on who is ultraliberal or ultraconservative within your group. But should it matter who serves on a panel, be they democrat or republican, with issues of truth? Will right and wrong ultimately be defined as liberal or conservative, changing its meaning with every election?

Our country and the world have lost the art of negotiation. We do not negotiate or change anything, we only barter. Bartering is great for products involving supply and demand, but it is not the best method evolving people and nations toward the truth. We don't meet in the middle on issues anymore, we have trade-offs. This form of dealing, with people and nations is based on want, not on change or progress.

I created Level Headed Bob to empower us as Americans and individuals. I want to try to dissolve our modern day McCarthyism so we don't fear each other politically, socially, spiritually, sexually, or because of the color of our skin. Level Headed Bob will introduce you to views not commonly exposed by our highly censored news organizations. Most importantly, Bob will make it easy to communicate with your elected officials, the ones that you individually elected but are led around by special interest groups.

Bob will give you information, resources, and links so that you can determine and evaluate what is going on in your country and the rest of the world with a more open mind. Yes, Level Headed Bob is a created character. Though created around a real person, I have definitely found him at odds with his creator at times. Bob has a refreshing quality about him that I am sure will delight (perhaps) every reader regardless from what group they may hail.

Is Bob opinionated? Oh my God, are you in for a treat! Candid and painfully honest, Bob gives it to you on the level. His objective is not to offend, but to bring about discussion that hopefully leads to action by common citizens like you.  From his lengthy editorials to his brief rants, Level Headed Bob hopes to offer you the tools to make a difference and get involved. As Bob would say, "The truth stands on its own. It's the light you can't put out. If it's true, it will shine no matter how deep you bury it. It's just a matter of time, before all the lies give way to the light."
